U of S plans Aboriginal resource centre

The College of Education is expected to be home to an Aboriginal education research centre that plans to look at broad historical, cultural, social and economic issues and train teachers.

Announced Feb. 17, the centre is expected to cost about $1 million which will be split between the University’s operating budget and fundraising initiatives. It is expected to open in late 2007.

According to Cecilia Reynolds, Education dean, the initiative should enhance education delivery to Aboriginal students both provincially and in band schools.
