Visiting great-grandfather's building

Kirk Hall had two special visitors Oct. 14

Kirk Hall had two special visitors Oct. 14 - the granddaughter and great-granddaughter of the building's namesake, Lawrence Eldrid Kirk. Alumni Relations Director Melana Soroka takes a photo of Kirk's great-granddaughter Sarah Clyne-Sanchez, left, and her mother, Kirk's granddaughter, Lesley A. Kirk (BA'66). The two were in Saskatoon from Toronto to attend the Oct. 13 U of S Alumni Association banquet, at which the late Dr. Kirk, dean of agriculture from 1937-47, was honoured with a Saskatchewan Centennial Leadership Award. Kirk Hall, called the College of Agriculture building when it was built in 1948-49, contained residence rooms, common rooms, an auditorium and a cafeteria. It was renamed in 1962 for Dr. Kirk.
