Beef chair named

Murray Jelinski, a graduate of the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM), has been appointed to the Alberta Chair in Beef Cattle Health and Production Medicine, effective Jan. 1.

Established initially with $1.5 million from the Government of Alberta, the chair is located in the Dept. of Large Animal Clinical Sciences.  WCVM Dean Charles Rhodes said Jelinski brings experience in beef practices, an interest in veterinary manpower, and business expertise to the position.  Jelinski graduated in 1985 and returned to the U of S in 1992 for post-graduate training.  He was general manager at MetaMorphix Canada Inc. when he accepted the appointment.
