A screening of A Year at Sherbrooke, an exploration of creativity at the Sherbrooke Community Centre, will take place Feb. 25 at 3:30 pm in the STM auditorium. A question and answer session with artists and residents of Sherbrooke will follow.
The U of S Wind Orchestra, directed by Glen Gillis, will present a joint concert with the U of S Jazz Ensemble, directed by Dean McNeill, Feb. 5 at 7:30 pm at the Quance Theatre. Admission is a silver collection. Call 966-6171 for more information.
Greystone Theatre presents the musical Assassins until Feb. 12. Based on the book by John Weidman, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, the production takes a peek into the minds of nine people who assassinated, or tried to assassinate, the president of the United States. Director is Julia Jamison with Deborah Buck as musical director. For ticket information, call 966-5188.
The Canadian Museum of Civilization travelling exhibit Acres of Dreams: Settling the Canadian Prairies, can be seen at the Diefenbaker Canada Centre until March 15. The exhibit focuses on the ‘selling’ and settling of the west, including stories of hardships, challenges and how settlers’ contributions made the Canadian West the prosperous land it is today.
Kelly Mark: Stupid Heaven, a major survey of works by Kelly Marchk of Toronto, that includes drawings, sculpture, video, performance and audio work, continues until March 19 and is presented in collaboration with the Blackwood Gallery, University of Toronto, and the Justina M. Barnicke Gallery.
The Daily and The Divine: Paintings by Jessica Shurr, work that narrates everyday moments of life along with stories that form cultures and change lives, can be seen until Feb. 26.
Sex? In the City: Images of Sexuality in Roman Domestic Space, reproductions of Pompeiian wall paintings and other artifacts that explore the social and religious aspects of sexual imagery in Roman home décor, is currently on view.
The Elixir Ensemble presents an evening of chamber music and tangos on Feb. 7 at 7:30 pm at Convocation Hall. Tickets are $20 and $15 for students and seniors and are available at www.picatic.com, the Place Riel kiosk or at the door.
