Whelen Lecture
Best-selling author and anthropologist Margaret Visser will deliver the 2010 Whelen Lecture on Feb. 23. Her talk is titled, I Swear: Oaths, Curses, and Modernity. The public lecture starts at 7 pm in the Neatby-Timlin Theatre (241 Arts), followed by a book signing and reception. Admission is free.
Sorokin Lecture
On Jan. 28 in Arts 143, Yanjie Bian, University of Minnesota and Xi’an Jiaotong University, will present the Sorokin Lecture, this year entitled The Increasing Significance of Guanxi in Chinese Transitional Economy. The lecture begins at 7:30 pm.

The Dept. of Psychology and the Culture and Human Development Program present AM. Ghadirian, professor, McGill University, who will present Is Spirituality Relevant to the Practice of Medicine? Feb. 4 at 4 pm in the Neatby-Timlin Theatre.
