U of S prof receives prominent international animal science award
On June 4, University of Saskatchewan professor H.A. (Bart) Lardner received the Extension Award from the American Society of Animal Science (ASAS).
Lardner, a senior research scientist at the Western Beef Development Centre (WBDC) and an adjunct professor at the College of Agriculture and Bioresources, U of S, was one of four researchers honoured by ASAS this year.
The ASAS, established in 1908 at Cornell University, New York, is an organization that fosters the discovery, sharing and application of scientific knowledge concerning the responsible use of animals to enhance human life and well-being.
Lardner’s research has focused on cow-calf management and forage and grazing, and has been involved in projects on water quality, pasture rejuvenation, and application of genomic technology in breeding systems.
In 2013, Lardner was the recipient of the Canadian Animal Industries Award in Extension and Public Service sponsored by Canadian Society of Animal Science and was nominated by the Agriculture Students Association for “Professor of the Year” in 2010 and 2015.
