Anand new dean of law
Sanjeev Anand will assume the position of dean of the College of Law on July 1, returning to the university where he served as assistant professor from 1999-2001.
By University CommunicationsCurrently a professor in the Faculty of Law at the University of Alberta, Anand earned a Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall, York University, a Master of Laws from the U of A and a PhD from Osgoode Hall. Before entering the academy in 1999, Anand was appellate counsel in the Criminal Appeals Division of the Alberta Department of Justice and a crown prosecutor in Edmonton.
Anand teaches and writes in five fields: substantive criminal law, criminal procedure, evidence, sentencing and constitutional law. He is the co-author of Principles of Criminal Law, and has published over 30 journal articles on criminal law. He has authored or co-authored more than a dozen book chapters, journal articles, case comments, book reviews, and commissioned reports on various aspects of Canada's juvenile justice system. Anand is also a frequent media commentator on criminal and constitutional law issues.
