Broncos Vigil – Monday at 3:30 p.m.
I would like to invite you to a vigil to be held tomorrow, Monday, April 9 at 3:30 p.m. in Convocation Hall in response to the tragic bus accident involving the Humboldt Broncos junior hockey team. All are welcome.
The vigil will be live streamed here.
I know that this tragedy has had a profound impact on many of you and it is my hope that tomorrow’s vigil provides us all with one way of collectively acknowledging the recent tragedy and the toll it has taken. As a community, this is a time for us to come together and care for one another. From tomorrow morning, banners will be available in Marquis Hall 104 (opposite the University bookstore) for you to add your own message of condolences and support to those affected, which we will be sharing with the Humboldt community.
Beginning Monday morning, Marquis Hall 104 will be open as a drop-in gathering space. Campus Counselling and support services are available as usual in Place Riel. Student support is available through the Student Affairs and Outreach office at 306-966-5757 and through the Student Wellness Centre at 306-966-5768. For staff and faculty, please be reminded of resources and supports through the Employee and Family Assistance Program. In Saskatoon, mobile crisis is available 24 hours a day, call 306-933-6200. In Humboldt, the Humboldt Uniplex remains open for gathering and support.
The university is a safe and welcoming place for people to come together during this difficult time. I offer my continued support and heartfelt condolences to the Broncos, their families and everyone who is grieving right now.
