Canadian astronaut launches USask Spectrum science and engineering expo
Grade school and university students filled the chairs in Convocation Hall at the University of Saskatchewan last week for an opportunity to speak through a live video feed with Canadian astronaut David Saint-Jacques, a member of the three-person crew currently on board the International Space Station.
By University CommunicationsThe question and answer session was the first event at this year’s Cameco Spectrum, an interactive event that showcases innovations in science, technology and engineering. The exhibition, which ran from Jan. 10 to 13, is organized by students in the College of Engineering.

Members of the USask Space Design Team (U.S.S.T.), who have been working on evolving their rover model over the past five years, were also featured during the four-day event.
Using a 3D printer, the team has been able to make critical changes to their 2018 Mars rover, according to an article by Global News.
“It’s a lot of fun to drive,” U.S.S.T. president Danno Peters said. “It’s really changing what Mars rovers are, we are changing from a scientific rover slowly going around Mars to a really fast rover that can help humans and build the planet.”
