Welcome to the 2026 Fall Term at USask
Welcome to the start of a new semester at the University of Saskatchewan (USask).
There’s a special feeling on campus when everyone returns — walkways get busy, classrooms open up, and conversations start to fill the hallways again. Seeing the university come alive is one of the highlights of the year for me, and I’m glad we have the opportunity to begin this academic year side by side.
Whether you are joining us for the first time or returning for another year, you belong here. You are part of a university that believes in your potential, supports your growth, and opens doors to opportunities that reach far beyond USask campuses. Located on Treaty 6 Territory and the Homeland of the Métis, USask is a place where local strengths inspire global impact, and where each of you plays a role in shaping a better future.
Students, educators, researchers, and staff together create one of Canada’s leading research-intensive universities. More than 26,000 students from across Canada and over 130 countries study here. People from many backgrounds call USask home, and those perspectives enrich the learning and campus experience. Our commitment to an inclusive and respectful campus includes ongoing work uplifting ohpahotân | oohpaahotaan, the Indigenous Strategy, and learning from the many communities who enrich this place.
Across USask, people are advancing discovery, creativity, and understanding in many forms. Work in science and innovation stands alongside scholarship that deepens our understanding of society, culture, and human experience. Artistic expression, community-engaged research, and ideas that support healthier and more sustainable futures all contribute to the vibrancy of this university. Together, they reflect the many ways our students, faculty, staff and partners learn, create and make a difference at USask.
As the semester begins, I encourage you to explore opportunities to connect, participate, and engage. Visit PAWS to find ways to get involved, access resources, and stay connected.
I also invite you to join me at the Huskies homecoming football game on Sept. 11 against the Calgary Dinos. Earlier that day, Huskie Soccer plays at noon at Griffiths Stadium, and students get in free for both games. It’s a great way to kick off the semester with some Huskies spirit.
Thank you for being part of the USask community. I wish you a successful, inspiring, and memorable year ahead.
Sincerely,
Vince Bruni‑Bossio
