Student named one of Saskatchewan's Future 40
Jebunnessa Chapola, a PhD student in Women’s, Gender and Sexualities Studies at the University of Saskatchewan, has been named one the CBC Saskatchewan’s Future 40, a group of the province’s young leaders, thinkers, change makers and success stories.

A feminist researcher, Bangla cultural activist, musical performer, radio host and mother of two young daughters, Chapola dedicates much time to assisting immigrants, visible minorities and Indigenous communities in Saskatoon and creating awareness about barriers to achieving gender, social and environmental justice.
Chapola won the CBC competition in the category of community leadership, social activism and volunteerism. Her work as the host of the show Banglar Gaan O Kotha (translated to Bengal's Song and Stories) on local community radio was featured in the U of S student newspaper The Sheaf on March 16, 2015.
