Ken Coates and and Greg Poelzer, both professors with the Johnson-Shoyama School of Public Policy, co-wrote From Treaty Peoples to Treaty Nation: A Road Map for All Canadians. The book, which provides an overview of the history, policies, cultural assumptions and divergent opinions that underpin Canada's complicated history as a treaty nation, was shortlisted for the Donner Book Prize, which is meant to encourage an open exchange of ideas and to provide a springboard for authors who may not necessarily be well-known, but who can make an original and meaningful contribution to policy discourse.

Coates is also the Canada Research Chair in Regional Innovation, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and the director of the International Centre for Northern Governance and Development at the U of S. Poelzer is the Fulbright Arctic Initiative Scholar and is the executive chair of the International Centre for Northern Governance and Development.
