The 2013 Formula SAE race car which is designed and built by U of S students is a complete redesign over the previous year's model. The "next generation" race car features custom designs which resulted in a lighter and more efficient car.
"Every four years the team develops an entirely new generation car," says Brett Derkach, vice-president of Huskie Motorsports Racing Team. "This year's model features a smaller and narrower chassis design which improves how the car moves. We've also completed an overhaul of the engine and integrated more high-performance carbon-fibre racing components."
Members of the Huskie Motorsports Team will be on hand for interviews and to provide demonstrations of the new design immediately after the unveiling. The Huskie Motorsports Team will accompany the Formula SAE race car to Lincoln, Nebraska on June 17 for the FSAE West competition. They are competing against an international field of racing teams from universities across the world.
