U of S Huskies honour troops at home opener
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - August 22, 2013 SASKATOON - The Huskie football team will honour the Canadian Forces during its home opening game on August 30. Coach Brian Towriss and the entire team invite the public to join them for the game against the University of Regina Rams.

Organizers of the annual tribute say the contest between the two Saskatchewan teams is a spectacular way for the football program and the community at large to honour and salute the men and women who have served in the Canadian Forces.
This is a great opportunity for University of Saskatchewan's football program to give back to the community," said Towriss. "It also gives U of S students, new or returning, the chance to cheer on our football team right from the start of the 2013-2014 season."
The Huskies will wear custom-designed uniforms for the team's home opener. The uniforms include new nameplates and patches that tell stories of support and honour. The uniforms combine the arid camouflage worn by our Canadian troops in Afghanistan with the traditional Green and White of the U of S.
"I can't say enough about our football club and their support for the Canadian Forces," said David Dube. "By honouring our troops with this game and as a community, we are recognizing the sacrifices of everyone who wears the uniform, as well as their families and friends who support them every single day."
Contributions to the Soldier On Fund will be accepted from fans when they enter the stadium and the Heather and David Foundation will match all funds raised. To date the event has raised over $75,000 for the charity that provides financial aid to ill or injured members of the Canadian Forces.
Long time Huskie friend and Huskie football alumni David Dube organizes the event and tribute to the Canadian Forces.
Kickoff is set for 7 pm at Griffith Stadium in PotashCorp Park on Friday, August 30, 2013.
