Acting Dean of Medicine, Lou Qualtiere, together with partners from the provincial government and the Prairie North Health Region, will welcome four new family medicine trainees to North Battleford. These medical residents are the first to receive their postgraduate training in North Battleford, thanks to the expansion of the College of Medicine's distributed medical education model.
Qualtiere explained that the college's mandate is to serve the people of Saskatchewan and it is critical for the college to have a well-established presence throughout the province to do that. Recruiting the first group of resident doctors is an important milestone in further developing North Battleford as a distributed medical education site.
In addition to North Battleford, medical residents can currently complete training in Saskatoon, Regina, Prince Albert, Swift Current and La Ronge. There are currently more than 430 U of S medical residents in Saskatchewan.
Interviews can be arranged with the speakers following a brief program.
