University of Saskatchewan intervention prevents potential hazard

Saskatoon Police Service, Saskatoon Fire and Protective Services and hazardous materials services are on campus this afternoon responding to a concern regarding chemicals in one of the labs in the Engineering Building.

The building was not evacuated, however the area around the lab was cleared for investigators.
There is no perceived danger at this time. This is a precautionary sweep to ensure the safety of the campus community.
The concern was initially brought to the university's attention through our student crisis intervention process. With a potential threat to safety, the Saskatoon Police Service was engaged and the decision to take additional precautions was made.
