U of S SIIT sign agreement that benefits Aboriginal students
SASKATOON -The University of Saskatchewan (U of S) and the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT) signed an agreement today pledging to work together in the coming years to benefit educational outcomes for Aboriginal learners.

"We are proud to work together with SIIT on this important initiative. Providing a seamless transition between our institutions will only serve to enhance our mutual goal of supporting the educational needs of Aboriginal people in Saskatchewan." said Ilene Busch-Vishniac, U of S president.
The agreement means the two institutions will work collaboratively, to create programs, initiatives and services that benefit the Indigenous people of Saskatchewan.
"This MOU between the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT) and the University of Saskatchewan is an example of collaboration and commitment to support First Nation students and improve accessibility for students interested in pursuing higher education at the University of Saskatchewan," said President and CEO Riel Bellegarde from SIIT. "I would like to acknowledge our team from SIIT and the commitment from the University of Saskatchewan to make this a reality."
In February, the U of S and SIIT signed a similar agreement that enables students who have completed two years of SIIT's business diploma program to enrol in the four-year Bachelor of Commerce degree at the university's Edwards School of Business.
The University of Saskatchewan has more than 2,000 Aboriginal students studying across the province and success in education for First Nations and Métis students is among the highest of the university's priorities.
