U of S to host conference on grain handling and transportation issues

The Department of Bioresource Policy, Business and Economics in the College of Agriculture and Bioresources at the University of Saskatchewan is hosting Grain Summit 2014, a conference to discuss grain handling and transportation logistics in western Canada.

The purpose of Grain Summit 2014 is to discuss the key issues that farmers, grain handlers, railways, port terminals and government face as a result of increased grain production in the region and provide specific short and long-term solutions on how to improve grain transportation efficiency to get Canadian crops to market.

Conference sessions include:

  • The Status of the Grain Transportation System

  • Shipper Agreements and Other Logistical Solutions

  • Regulation and Shipper Incentives

  • Next Steps for Engagement and Finding Solutions
