University of Saskatchewan welcomes presidents of the Canadian Medical Association and Canadian Nurses Association

The University of Saskatchewan invites media to attend the College of Medicine's second annual Health Innovation and Public Policy Conference.

This student-planned conference will feature keynote addresses from Dr. Chris Simpson, president of the Canadian Medical Association, and Karima Velji, president of the Canadian Nurses Association. The title of this year's conference is How Canadian Healthcare Providers are Shaping the Future of Health.

Simpson will speak about developing a national seniors strategy and physician leadership. Velji will speak about how registered nurses can lead advocacy through action.

Presentations and a panel discussion will focus on access to care, the role of health care in the upcoming federal election, evidence-based policies, patient-centered outcomes and how to advocate for changes in health policy.

The conference is open to medical students, residents, physicians, members of the campus community and the public.

Simpson and Velji will be available for media interviews from 11:45 am - 12:15 pm on Nov. 5.
