Sneak-peek tour of the Gordon Oakes Redbear Student Centre at U of S

SASKATOON - Media are invited to attend a sneak-peek tour of the soon-to-open Gordon Oakes Redbear Student Centre at the University of Saskatchewan (U of S). The building will be an inclusive, intercultural gathering place for the entire campus community. Grand opening celebrations will take place in early February.

•  Graeme Joseph, team leader of First Nations, Métis and Inuit student success at the U of S
• Colin Tennent, associate vice-president and university architect, Facilities Management Division

The Gordon Oakes Redbear Student Centre will house the Aboriginal Students' Centre and Aboriginal student leadership groups—with additional space for learning, gatherings and ceremonies. The centre will also play a lead role in the co-ordination of on-campus Aboriginal engagement.

This 1,884 square-metre building was designed by Douglas Cardinal, a renowned Métis and Blackfoot architect. The projected cost of the development is $17 million.
