White Coat Ceremony milestone for U of S dentistry students

SASKATOON - The University of Saskatchewan's (U of S) College of Dentistry will celebrate 29 second-year students in their progression to the dentistry profession during an annual White Coat Ceremony this week.

Members of the media are invited to attend the ceremony, which marks a student's transition from the simulation lab to patient care and clinical treatment:

Dr. Gerry Uswak, dean of the College of Dentistry, will host the ceremony during which each student will be gifted with a crested white lab coat provided by the College of Dental Surgeons of Saskatchewan. Dr. Robert Loney, a graduate of the class of 1983, will give the keynote address.

The ceremony features processional music by the Saskatoon String Ensemble and a special musical interlude performed by Canadian pianist Dr. Thomas Yu (periodontist, class of 2003). A reception at the University Club will follow.
