UPDATE – The College of Dentistry is happy to report that due to overwhelming demand, this program has reached its capacity for Saturday’s event.

U of S College of Dentistry to provide free care on first ever Dental Day YXE

SASKATOON – Free dental care will be provided at the University of Saskatchewan (U of S) during the first ever Dental Day YXE on Saturday, April 8.

Dental Day YXE will be hosted by the U of S College of Dentistry from 8 am to 4 pm in the Dental Clinic Building (105 Wiggins Road). The main objective is to provide free dental treatments to individuals and families who are unable to access care due to financial constraints. Treatments provided will include: cleanings, denture repair, extractions, fillings and root canal therapy.

The Saskatchewan dental community has rallied together to make this day possible. Dentists, dental assistants, dental hygienists, dental therapists, denturists and specialists have donated their time and expertise to provide care at the U of S on that day.

The new free care day is part of the College of Dentistry’s vision to provide outreach and community engagement.

“We can impact many lives by relieving people of dental pain and improving oral health,” said Dr. Alyssa Hayes, assistant professor of dental public health at the U of S. “It is also a great way to bring the profession together and strengthen those bonds as a dental community as well as to the communities we serve on a daily basis.”

Donor support for the day will be provided by: 3M Oral Care, Brasseler, Carlton Dental Laboratories, Dentsply Sirona, Hu-Friedy, KaVo Kerr, Medicom, MNP, Pita Pit, Reiss, Saskatchewan Dental Assistants Association, Septodont, Sinclair Dental, Vocco, as well as Wiegers Financial & Benefits.
