U of S CHAMPS kids camp gives patients confidence to have fun

SASKATOON – Participating in traditional summer activities can be difficult for children who have had heart surgery, so having the chance to meet and play with kids who have similar experiences was how the Children's Healthy Heart Camp in Saskatchewan (CHAMPS) was born.

In its fourth year at the University of Saskatchewan (U of S), CHAMPS provides children from across the province the opportunity to spend the week playing without fear.

Members of the media are invited to attend a portion of the week-long pediatric heart camp program.

Children attend the week-long camp at no cost and are able to participate in a variety of activities like swimming and wall climbing, but they are also given the opportunity to talk with child psychologists, doctors and U of S athletes.
