USask to recognize inaugural winners of young entrepreneur awards

SASKATOON –Members of the media are invited to to a special event at the University of Saskatchewan recognizing the inaugural winners of the Get a Bigger Wagon Young Entrepreneur Awards, presented by Gordon and Maureen Haddock:

The Get a Bigger Wagon Young Entrepreneur Awards are a new initiative targeted at young entrepreneurs between seven and 15 years of age. Entrants were encouraged to submit a one to two minutevideo describing their business and a basic profit and loss summary. The categories for awards include young entrepreneurs from the following age groups: 7-9 years, 10-12 years and 13-15 years.

The awards are part of the 12th Annual Gordon and Maureen Haddock Entrepreneurial Speaker Series, which will feature Duane Smith. Smith is the former CEO of JayDee AgTech andhe will share lessons from his early days as an entrepreneur, to selling his award-winning company.

Several students and key spokespeople will be available for comments Monday following the event at 4 pm.
