Through the Network Environments of Indigenous Health Research's (NEIHR) National Coordinating Centre at the University of Saskatchewan (USask) and the Saskatchewan NEIHR network, a national gathering of Indigenous graduate students, this event—during National Indigenous History Month and the week before National Indigenous Peoples Day—will celebrate the next generation of Indigenous scholars and community leaders.
Fifty-three Indigenous graduate students will present on their research in Indigenous health. Also participating are Indigenous and allied faculty members from across Canada who are part of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) funded NEIHR networks and CIHR-funded Indigenous Mentorship Networks.
The National Coordinating Centre is also partnering with a local gathering of Two-Spirit and IndigiQueer community members from Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba to create connections and opportunities for collaboration, and to further Two-Spirit and IndigiQueer research and representation within research spaces. This is taking place during Pride Month.
