Two U of S alumni in the running to be the next Canadian astronauts

U of S alumni Shane Journeay and Jason Leuschen are two of 72 candidates selected by the Canadian Space Agency for its National Astronaut Recruitment Campaign.

Originally chosen from a recruitment pool of 3,000 people, both Leuschen and  Journeay have spent the last several months going through a series of medical exams as well as physical and skills tests to meet the demands of astronaut training and space flight.

Both will find out this summer if they will join Canada’s astronaut corps. Journeay completed his PhD in toxicology/nanotoxicology in 2008 and Leuschen graduated from the College of Engineering in 2000.
