USask prepares to welcome international researchers for 2026 PAW Congress
This year’s theme is “Critical connections: The path to responsible minerals, sustainable energy, and thriving communities”
By Research Profile and ImpactFostering connections with researchers around the world is essential as solutions are sought for complex global issues.
The University of Saskatchewan (USask) People Around the World (PAW) International Congress 2026 will bring together researchers, scholars, government representatives, industry partners, and community members to discuss developing technologies and research solutions to help build a sustainable future.
The theme for the PAW 2026 Congress is “Critical connections: The path to responsible minerals, sustainable energy, and thriving communities.”
"Developing our critical minerals resources here in Canada will be crucial for the future of energy and technology," said Dr. Michael Bradley (PhD), the dean of USask’s College of Engineering and one of the co-chairs of PAW Congress 2026. “USask will lead conversations with global partners so we can better position our local talent, expertise, and resources on the world stage.”
The PAW 2026 Congress will run from Oct. 20 – 22, 2026, at USask’s Saskatoon campus. Attendees of this year's PAW Congress include speakers from the provincial and federal governments, as well as industry experts with companies based in Saskatchewan and renowned academics from around the world.
The congress will give participants from institutions and industries across the globe a chance to come together to share ideas and seek new solutions in areas such as critical minerals, emerging technologies, national security, the energy transition, and more.
Through a series of panels and keynote presentations, attendees will have the opportunity to connect with local, national, and international colleagues to build connections for the future.
USask students are also able to participate through a student and postdoctoral fellow-led poster presentation on campus.
One of the keys to the ongoing success of the PAW Congress is how it brings together diverse perspectives and expertise in looking for ways to better future research and industry connections and collaborations.
"Global challenges require complex, multidisciplinary solutions," said Dr. Solina Richter (DCur), the dean of USask’s College of Nursing and a co-chair of PAW 2026. “The PAW Congress fosters these kinds of solutions by bringing together world-class expertise, and USask is proud to host such an event.”
